Welcome to Five Lamps

What is the Five Lamps Organisation?

Creating Possibilities: Improving Lives

The Five Lamps Organisation is one of the largest community led social enterprises within the North East. Established in 1989 (and known as the Five Lamps Organisation since February 1992), the Five Lamps provides a holistic approach to economic and social renewal. The Five Lamps is also a registered charity.

The Five Lamps Mission is to

“To transform lives, raise aspirations, remove barriers and offer choice to families, business and communities”

The Five Lamps works hard to transform the lives of everyone, but particularly those living in the most disadvantaged communities. All of our work is underpinned by our commitment to ‘Making People Matter’.

The Five Lamps has a strong ethos of being inclusive – everyone is welcome. We work with some of the hardest to engage people and those most excluded in society and we continue to offer our support to our customers for as long as they need it. This is due to the trust and relationships we build up with the people most in need of our services.

We pride ourselves on our high quality service provision and are committed to breaking down the barriers that people face as they seek economic, social and financial inclusion. We believe that our integrated service provision offers our customers an unusually high level and range of support. We work closely with a number of key support agencies and refer our customers to specialist support agencies to offer further support.

We operate services across the whole of the Tees Valley, and following a successful tender to the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP)’s Financial Inclusion Growth Fund, we now provide services in Whitby and Scarborough.

The Five Lamps is the host organisation for Tees Credit Union.
