Five Lamps seeks to help customers who are struggling with their utility and other household debts, through a funded project from British Gas Energy Trust.

Five Lamps have employed 2 Energy Debt Advisors - Linda Evans and Gary Holroyd who will provide one to one specialist debt advice and prepare applications to the British Gas Energy Trust and other utility Trust.

The Energy Debt Advisor will:

  • Support customers through debt management advice to set up payment plans
  • Make applications to British Gas Energy Trust and other utility Trusts
  • Negotiate with energy suppliers
  • Address energy account arrears
  • Provide advice on a range of energy issues including: energy efficiency and saving energy in the home; ways to pay for energy bills; meter readings; dealing with fuel debt; other debts; welfare benefits advice
  • Referral to external agencies for additional support
  • Promote the work of British Gas Energy Trust
  • Deliver a service in all 12 local authority areas across the North East, with a particular focus on Sunderland as a key British Gas operating area
  • Promote the success of the project through case studies

Making a referral to the Energy Debt Advisor
