The Ink’s finally dry for Tattooligan Mark

September 18th 2012

Mark Hobson from Norton engaged with Five Lamps in January 2012 to obtain support in opening a tattoo studio

Already a creative individual, Mark wanted to use his considerable artistic talents to create body art – a far cry from his previous work painting aircraft. Now his artwork adorns a different kind of undercarriage.

Working with the Enterprise Team at Five Lamps he began his journey towards self-employment.

Mark said:

“I knew I wanted to be in Norton but other than that, I had no idea about leasing premises. It was a real eye-opener”

Mark’s journey involved a number of potential premises before he found the perfect location on Norton Avenue. But once he’d found the location he then had to change the planning permissions and, of course, obtain the relevant licensing to prove the business was safe and hygienic.

Mark said

“It’s been a lot of work to get the business up and running. Looking back, I don’t think I could have done it without the support I received from Five Lamps. They were with me all the way”

Tattooligan opened its doors on Norton Avenue in August 2012. Asked about what the future holds, Mark says

“I just can’t wait to get on. It’s been hard work but ultimately worth it. It’s great to see delighted customers walking out the door. In some way, Tattooligans will now always be a little part of their lives”
